after a long summer, memoria recordings is back with a 3 tracks release of the romanian all-rounder marcman! three totally different tracks, each with its own story. this is how memoria works on her eps: dancefloor music, but also space for experimental sounds suitable for afterhours and special moments. with *inspection* by marcman the dutch label did it again.

black drop effects is named after the black drop effect, the dark bridge which appears to join two almost-touching bodies against bright light: famously, venus becoming teardropshaped on its transit across the sun, just before it moves into the darkness of space. all four tracks on this ep from italian-born producer palese are named after scientific aspects of the planet venus, confirming that industrial can most certainly still be intriguing. the ep surprises you with twists and turns, defying any stereotypical assumption of techno being all uniform monotony.

after teasing us over the last two years with compilation and split ep releases on labels such as lets play house, horn wax and throne of blood/black catalogue, acclaimed visual artist and filmmaker sean dack drops his first solo ep as pixelife for throne of blood. deftly navigating the grey areas in between house, techno and acid, pixelife delivers two original tracks built to move the dancefloor at strobe-saturated warehouse parties. remixes come from druzzi and pittsburgh track authority.

neueheimat is joinig the cirque du minimaliste family on its sublabel manege with his debut release *quartier3*. neueheimat was founded near hamburg in 2012 by dennis grell. after working for many years as a commissioned producer and remixer for publishers and labels, dennis wished to start his own, new project and truly realise his creativity. conceptually, the aim is for the music to blend seamlessly with his photographs of urban architecture and to document the anonymity of life within city walls. influenced by artists such as anders trentemøller, jon hopkins, trent reznor and the earlier einstürzende neubauten, dennis began creating his own definition of electronic music. neueheimat and subsequently *quartier3 ep* are characterised by dennis clear style of production: a few lighter passages, but primarily creating a deep and murky impression. large spaces leave room for interpretation and present the listener with images that either they have never seen or have been missing for a long time. created on old analogue equipment, mixed on a 30-year-old tape recorder and mastered by mastering engineer stefan betke (tresor, cabaret voltaire, lucy, laibach), *quartier3* is a significant milestone in dennis production history.

in the late 60s early 70s many american soldiers where stationed all over germany. among those where musicians who played in several army bands like the east of underground who recorded a now sought after album after they had won the special services entertainment showband contest held in frankfurt in 1971. nobody knows which other bands participated in this contest, maybe also the soul explosion which were stationed in augsburg, upper bavaria. around the same time, a man named charles held opened a club in augsburg town called tarantel. furthermore he was running a record label of the same name on which he released a handful of 7inch singles from different, local bands, mainly not funky at all though. the soul explosions release remains the only one in the field of american soul & funk music. the band recorded a fantabulous double sider, one deep funk side with a soulful ballad on the flip which makes both hardcore funk and soul collectors happy. unfortunately there is no more information available about the band, only that they even performed live at the tarantel club.

revno return and how! the mysterious gino fontaine is unmasked - a nom de plume for non other than the chicken lipped, emperor machinist himself, andy meecham time and again he has proved his mettle, and it is safe to say this is an absolute killer, with esteemed gentleman of dance music, bill brewster having already picked up on lead cut *revnorev* for his acclaimed after dark (nightshift) compilation and quite right too, if you can find a better example of an anthemic light / dark chug-fest, we would be happy to hear it! the mix featured here is an exclusive version for this 12 inch alone! scorching bass pulses and atmospherics, powered by synthesized drums finally give way to a cool chicy guitar line and ymo style top lines for an epic space-disco finale… konkondo graces the flip, and could easily be a mysterious early 80’s cosmic holy grail with its gentle wave washes gradually unfurling into an mesmerising roland bassline and back again. a stunning release then, limited and lovely as ever - dont sleep !

an amazing, rare beauty of a track from deep within the trax vaults, eric bells your love originally came out in 1987 and features a stellar instrumental version courtesy of the legendary frankie knuckles. since its original release it has been a heavily sought after piece of wax often changing hands on-line for hundreds of pounds and it remains one of the most cult chicago house records and rightfully so re-mastered and re-pressed here for the first time, your love is an unmissable re-issue complete with original trax label artwork, utterly essential.

after nearly a year has passed by - and kitted out with heavy hitting drum timbres, hook laden nuances and a textured palette of unique effects - south african born esa makes a welcome return to the burek family fold with another ep that skirts the boundaries of the dance-floor and soaks up the sights and sounds of those on the peripheral edges. a family thats consisted of many strays and deviants being welcomed in, esas ep is another mellifluous fit for the croatian based house label that prides itself on beats that drip with greasy flavour and a fine follow on from his killer ‘serenity in a forbidden place ep for the label in july of 2013.

verona based producer and dj luca ballerini is our latest discovery and a perfect proof that cocoon recordings is still looking for new kids on the block and gives them the chance to step into the arena. although we have to admit that luca ballerini is not a complete rookie anymore. after his debut on siena recordings in 2010, ballerini founded his own plattforms and released several productions on musical metaphor and wax jam.

one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.
